bigstock-Pigeon-s-Crap-44114515(1)Keeping squirrels, raccoons, birds and other small animals out of your home garage and property can be a challenge, but it’s worth the effort to avoid possible damage that can be done to your home.  You must remember that animals are attracted to your home by either food or shelter. Here are a few tips that can help you minimize  the risk of wildlife trying to enter your home.

If you have a pet try to keep their food and water where other animals can’t get to it.  Don’t feed wildlife of any kind. It attracts other wildlife and keeps animals coming back for more. Do not feed squirrels or raccoons or other wildlife that can cause issues around your home. If you must feed birds, don’t let the bird food accumulate anywhere. Keep the feeding area clean. Squirrels and raccoons will eat leftover bird feed.

Keep trash receptacles sealed and avoid using compost bins. Don’t throw food scraps into your garden. If you have a fruit and vegetable garden make sure your harvest before fruit and vegetables are over ripe.
