On October 19th, a raccoon was caught after it snuck into Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia before a Giants-Eagles game. Raccoons are dangerous and crafty. They have the ability to open doors, climb trees or fences, and knock over trash cans. Raccoons have opposable thumbs that make them even more effective at opening doors or garbage cans. Raccoons are the highest carriers of rabies of all animals, leading with 32.3% of all reported cases in non-humans in the US, according to the CDC. Raccoons often break into homes and sheds, especially as it gets closer to the cold seasons. If a raccoon can slip into a stadium with a large security team and cameras, then a raccoon can enter your home with ease. Signs of raccoons in a home include crashing, scratching, or growling noises. Attics and crawlspaces are common hiding spaces for raccoons who enter a home.
