Squirrels

Gray SquirrelWith the warm weather coming around you might start to notice an increase in wildlife around you. You might think to yourself “wow those squirrels are really cute and look cuddly” but imagine them stuck in your house chewing through your walls. They are known to be noisy, destructive, and smelly. Like all animals, squirrels are constantly looking for food and shelter. However, they find most of their food around residential areas and houses. They collect food from bird feeders, pets, nut trees, and gardens. Squirrels can enter your home in a number of different ways including chimneys, gaps in siding, shingles or other exterior materials, unscreened vents, or holes created by other animals or the squirrels themselves.  The holes that these creatures create to enter your home can become a useful entrance for other unwanted animals such as rats, mice, opossums and even insects.

More often than not, you will be able to hear the animals living in your home. They are known to be loud. If there is a female and male living throughout your house you are more likely to hear them mating or fighting.  If you are unaware of squirrels living in your house they will use your home as a “home-base” and return year after year. Once they enter your home, squirrels will get cozy in your walls and attic. They have become accustomed and unphased by the presence of humans and are very comfortable living with them.

After locating the messy animals in your home our specialists are trained to remove the nesting and sanitize the surrounding areas. The removal of these quick creatures can take up to four or five days. To ensure that the squirrel leaves your home, we install one- way doors throughout the house so the animal is able to leave and not return. Once we confirm that they are gone, our specialists will go back and seal any possible entry points to assure no future intrusions will occur.
